POLITICS: Monday is GOP media day

S.C. Republicans are stepping up to microphones on Monday with the 2014 governor's race wafting in the background.

Republican Gov. Nikki Haley will hold a news conference encouraging the General Assembly to pass legislative ethics reforms. She speaks at 12:30 p.m. on the College of Charleston campus.

She talked to the media in Columbia and Greenville last week about one of the key campaign platforms in her 2014 reelection run. (The S.C. Democratic news release reminding reporters about Haley's previous ethics run-ins should come right about ... now.)

S.C. Republican Party Chairman Matt Moore will join a Greenville-area resident who lost his existing health insurance coverage with start of the Affordable Care Act -- or as the GOP called it in a news release, "the Barack Obama-Vincent Sheheen health care takeover in South Carolina."

They gather at 3 p.m. in the Greenville Republican Party headquarters as state Republicans continue to tie the Democratic gubernatorial hopeful to the president.
