POLITICS: Nikki Haley favors a governor in the White House

Gov. Nikki Haley says she's a fan of governors -- and she would like to see one in the White House in January 2017.

"Governors make great CEOs," Haley said at a Republican Governor’s Association news conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Thursday. "It's easier for us to look at how they handle their state and how they would handle the country than its for one member of DC saying, oh maybe they can do it."

Haley took a small dig at Congress in the video uploaded by The Daily Caller, saying, "It’s really hard for someone out of DC to prove results when they can’t even stay open."

Haley did not name any names, but she was sitting next to a potential 2016 hopeful, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who was elected the RGA chairman on Thursday.

Christie has no campaign visits scheduled for Haley's re-election bid.

But Christie has "committed to doing everything he can to support her re-election, and that includes coming to campaign for her at some point over the next year," Haley campaign spokesman Rob Godfrey said.
