Here we stand, worlds apart?
The S.C. House returns at 1 p.m. to the debate over how to spend the state's $6.9 billion budget. A bond bill originally set to borrow almost $550 million could get cut in half, after pressure from Gov. Nikki Haley.
Haley has been blasting lawmakers for wanting to borrow the money, her spokesperson saying, "New debt is new debt, whether it's half a billion dollars or a quarter of a billion dollars.”
But the Democrats' fiery minority leader dished back, calling Haley a hypocrite, among other things, for supporting borrowing in the past.
While some representatives would have rather moved on to the Journey concert down the street, one member entertained lawmakers coming back from a dinner break with a performance of his own.
