Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a front-runner in the 2016 race for the GOP presidential nomination, will speak May 2 at the S.C. Republican Convention, the state party said Monday.
Bush has shared the top spot in recent polls for the GOP nomination with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. A poll this month by Winthrop University had Walker leading Bush by a slim margin among South Carolina Republicans.
S.C. Democrats also are attracting presidential hopefuls to their convention, which is this Saturday.
Those hopefuls include former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.
