Let’s hope Peru is ready for the Cummings brothers, because the Cummings brothers are ready for Peru.
Omar Cummings’ strong showing on Saturday afternoon at the USA Weightlifting Junior National Championships in Oklahoma City secured him a place along with his younger brother, C.J., on the eight-lifter Team USA for the Youth World Championships to be held April 7 through 12 in Lima, Peru.
The team was selected Sunday after the close of the Junior National Championships.
“Omar’s personal-best performance not only secured him a slot on Team USA for the Youth Worlds, but Beaufort can boast having the top two ranked youth lifters in the entire nation for this prestigious international competition,” coach Ray Jones said. “I cannot be any prouder of them.”

“It looks really good,” Jones said at the time of Omar’s performance.
