More than 3,000 real estate agents across the country were asked which areas are the most beautiful in spring and one South Carolina neighborhood made the top 10.

It’s in Charleston as you might assume, but it’s not the neighborhood you might have guessed.

It’s Hampton Park Terrace near The Citadel, ranked 4th. It is Charleston’s largest park, abundant with azaleas, camellias, and flowering trees under ancient live oaks. There’s a duck pond, pavilion and pathways across 60 acres.

Homes.com says the adjacent neighborhood has older single-family homes while being close to downtown and the Ashley River.

“Home architecture in Hampton Park Terrace includes Historic Charleston singles, arts and crafts, bungalows and foursquares,” Homes.com said. Home prices are typically between $1 million and $3 million.

The survey was conducted by Matin Real Estate, which has offices in Oregon and Washington State.

“Respondents were encouraged to consider both seasonal blossoms and the broader shift into spring — including fresh greenery, longer daylight hours, and the overall atmosphere of lighter, brighter surroundings,” the company said.

In all, 145 communities were listed and two others were in South Carolina — Summerville No. 30 and Greenville’s West End No. 59.

The No. 1 spot was Central Park West in Manhattan, New York.

Summerville is getting ready to celebrate its Flowertown Festival March 27-29, a fundraiser for the Summerville Family YMCA that was founded in 1973.

The three-day arts and crafts festival attracts more than 200,000 visitors.

Known as Flower Town in the Pines and the birthplace of sweet tea, Summerville is located about 30 miles northwest of Charleston.

There is a Sweet Tea Trail that includes all sorts of sweet tea–inspired stuff like gifts and specialty items at stops throughout town.

Azalea Park has pathways, green space, and a sculpture garden.

Greenville’s West End is a work in progress, beginning three decades ago with a number of empty storefronts and an Army Navy Store to today with a minor league ballpark that resembles Fenway Park in Boston and dozens of new residences, shops and restaurants.

There is also, of course, Falls Park, located beside Reedy River Falls with its one-of-a-kind pedestrian bridge and 32 acres of lawn and 13 gardens, walking trails, and direct access to downtown Greenville.

Besides Central Park and Charleston, the other top 10 areas making the Matin list are:

2. Myers Park, Charlotte, North Carolina

3. Garden District, New Orleans, Louisiana

5. Annapolis Historic District, Annapolis, Maryland

6. Laurelhurst, Portland, Oregon

7. Isle of Hope, Savannah, Georgia

8. Fan District, Richmond, Virginia

9. Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia

10. Wooster Square, New Haven, Connecticut
