Being of English, Irish and American Indian descent, I am proud of my heritage. But I am more proud to be an American. In support of Geoffrey R. McKee’s position (“Let’s just all be loyal Americans,” Dec. 5), I ask that all ardent hyphenated Americans answer this question: “Would you want to go back to being a citizen of one of your heritage countries?”
If you answer is “no,” then call yourself an American and, as McKee said, be one first. If you answer is “yes,” then pack your bags. I believe that that most of us really want to be an American first. If so, let’s act like one.
