Just take a look at the four-year graduation rates at Benedict (14.3 percent), S.C. State (13.7 percent) and Allen (11.4 percent). Why would any student want to attend a college or university with results like these? Could you imagine students applying for a job and telling their prospective employer that they graduated from any of these institutions of higher learning?
The people running these institutions are and have been taking fat salaries for poor performance for many years. Give the S.C. State students a refund and a free pass to South Carolina or Clemson. Fire the entire board of directors at S.C. State for dereliction of duty and poor results. Close the school for two years, clean house, hire a new board and teachers, and give the school a fresh start.
