It is extremely disappointing to see virtually no mention of the failure of S.C. State to educate its students in a timely manner by our legislators. The university is a place where many people work and precious few students are educated. Loyalty is a wonderful thing; misplaced loyalty adds another bump in the road to transforming this historically black university into an institution that gets the job done.
Millions more likely will be spent to keep the doors open in Orangeburg, but for what reason? Funding is not the main problem that needs to be addressed; faculty competency is.
Let’s send in the professionals from USC or Clemson to lead the change from educational failure to educational excellence.
Not a dime more for S.C. State until a plan to educate our young people is put into action.
