While our legislators are in the process of covering their backsides to undo the Base Load Review Act disaster, SCE&G is getting $37 million per month for a construction project no longer under construction.
Since the July cancellation, ratepayers have given SCE&G $222 million.
The gullible Legislature bought the false claim that the Base Load Review Act would reduce the cost of new nuclear reactors to ratepayers. Now we know better.
When all is said and done, it is not the responsibility of the state of South Carolina to protect the consequences of poor management and imprudent decisions of companies, regulated or not, at the forced expense of its citizens.
The State publishes a cross section of the letters we receive from South Carolinians in order to provide a forum for our community and also to allow our community to get a good look at itself, for good or bad. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not necessarily of The State.
