BASEBALL

Former Lexington High baseball coach Tommy Williams has been added to the baseball staff at Newberry. Williams is a 1981 graduate of South Carolina. He played on the 1977 and 1981 College World Series teams. Williams served as coach at Lexington from 1984-2004. He had a 432-136 record and won 10 region championships and Class 4A state titles in 1992, 1994, and 1999.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

College of Charleston starting forward Antwaine Wiggins will miss the season with a knee injury. The school said that Wiggins, a 6-foot-7 junior, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while working out last week. Wiggins had averaged 8.3 points and 3.9 rebounds last season.
