Kyle Busch Family Shares Iconic Driver's Cause Of Death

The NASCAR community lost a legend this week in Kyle Busch. He sadly passed away on Thursday at the age of 41.

On Thursday, Richard Childress Racing announced that Busch was hospitalized due to a severe illness. A few hours later, the team confirmed that he died. According to The Associated Press, the two-time Cup Series champion was found unresponsive on Wednesday while testing in the Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina.

TMZ obtained the 911 audio from Busch's medical emergency. It was revealed that he was dealing with shortness of breath prior to his death.

"I've got an individual that's shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he's going to pass out, and he's producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood," the caller told the authorities.

On Saturday morning, the Busch family shared the cause of Kyle's death. It turns out he was hospitalized with pneumonia, which then progressed into sepsis.

"The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications," the Busch family's statement read. "The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time."

Honoring Kyle Busch's legacy.

Richard Childress Racing announced this week that Busch's No. 8 car will be reserved exclusively for his 11-year-old son, Brexton.

"Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR's stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry," the team said. "No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing."

Brexton has already raced in Outlaw Karts and the Bandolero Bandits National Championship. Maybe we'll get to see him continue his father's legacy in several years from now.

In the meantime, we're keeping the Busch family in our thoughts and prayers.
