The senior tight end had four receptions and his third scoring pass of the season. Palmer has 27 receptions for the year, the most by a Clemson tight end since 1971, when John McMakin had 31. Clemson tight ends have 42 catches this season, the second highest total in school history. The record is 46 in 1970.
The quarterback completed 12of 18 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, a passing efficiency of 183, his top efficiency of the year. Parker has 16 touchdown passes this season, a record for a Clemson freshman and tied for the fourth most in a season in Clemson history by any quarterback.
C.J. Spiller, the Clemson senior running back and Heisman Trophy candidate, became the first player in Tigers' history to record a touchdown passing, rushing and receiving in the same game. He passed for a 17-yard TD, ran for a 16-yard TD and had a 34-yard catch for a score.
Coming off a game when Clemson kickers missed three extra points and two field goals, there was some improvement. But Spencer Benton, who took over for Richard Jackson, missed 2 of 5 extra-point attempts. Benton kicked a 28-yard field goal, and Jackson made one PAT.
Picked by many to win the ACC Coastal Division, the Wolfpack will go down as one of the biggest disappointments in college football this season. Coach Tom O'Brien's team, which was 4-0 in November last season, is 4-6 (1-5 ACC) and was booed in the second half.
