USC president Harris Pastides is a huge baseball fan. And with the Gamecocks taking on their in-state nemesis at the College World Series in Omaha, Pastides wants to pull Clemson president James Barker into the rivalry.
Pastides said he would contact Barker about a friendly wager if USC defeats the Tigers tonight to set up a Saturday rematch at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The Gamecocks need to beat Clemson twice to advance to next week’s best-of-three championship series against TCU or UCLA.
"We’re not going to barter a tuition or money from the legislature or anything like that. But a hat or something like that? I’d be for it," Pastides said. "I will definitely reach out to (Barker). But I’m going to wait until we have an even (slate)."
