South Carolina freshman Bruce Ellington is one of 66 nominees for the 2011 Bob Cousy Award given to the nation's top point guard.
Ellington was nominated by Gamecock head coach Darrin Horn, a team spokeswoman said.
The 5-foot-9 Moncks Corner native leads South Carolina in scoring with 12.6 points a game and assists with 4.2 a game.
South Carolina guard Devan Downey made the final 11 last season. Greivis Vasquez of Maryland won the award last season.
The list will be trimmed to 20 by Jan. 3 with a final five announced two months later. The winner will named on April 4 during the Final Four weekend.
