USC freshman outfielder DeSean Anderson is serving an indefinite suspension for academic reasons.
Anderson, a High Point, N.C., native, was suspended last week. There is no timetable for his return. He has appeared in only three games this season with no plate appearances. He does have one stolen base as a pinch-runner.
He was drafted in the 30th round by the Boston Red Sox out of Greensboro’s Ragsdale High last summer but opted to come to USC.
Anderson also has missed time with injuries, one to his knee in the fall as well as a broken bone in his wrist in the preseason.
