South Carolina pitcher Braden Webb has signed with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Webb was named the Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The right-hander finished the year 10-6 with a 3.09 ERA and struck out 128 batters in 102 innings pitched.

Opponents hit just .216 against Webb, who was drafted in the third round of the MLB draft, No. 82 overall, by the Brewers last week.

Webb sat out last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He also earned Freshman All-America distinctions from the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball.

He joins juniors Dom Thompson-Williams (Yankees) and Gene Cone (Mets) in signing pro contracts.

South Carolina third base signee Joe Rizzo of Oak Hill, Va., signed with the Seattle Mariners. He was drafted by the Mariners in the second round.
