Former South Carolina football star Alshon Jeffery was looking for a big free agent payout this offseason. News Monday could hurt those prospects.
The NFL announced Jeffery will be suspended four games for performance enhancing drug use. He’s in his fifth year with the Chicago Bears after a record setting-run in Columbia.
He responded to the news on Twitter.
In nine games, he’s had 630 receiving yards and one touchdown. He had strong seasons in 2013 and 2014, but was injured and saw his production slip in 2015.
He left Columbia with the most receiving yards (3,042) and tied for the most touchdowns (23) in school history.
