What do you do to develop an edge pass rusher like you were talking about last week?
What do you do with the guys you’ve got?
It’s like anything else — you are trying to develop. I think Devin (Taylor) has stepped up and played well. Devin showed some explosiveness and speed and closing speed. Chaz Sutton has showed some flashes. I still think we’ll see Chaz Sutton.

Have you been better against the run than you were last year?
You look at it statistically and we are, but Southern Miss didn’t try to run it very much. Sometimes that stuff is funny. I am not a big stat guy. Last year, we were always trying to win a game in the fourth quarter and people were trying to close the clock and ran the ball more. Run defense has been pretty good, it really has.
How do you feel about Chris Culliver’s play?
It has been really good. He got put on an island a couple times (against Georgia). Our man blitz didn’t get to the quarterback on that throw in the end zone. He’s been very good.
What worries you most about Furman?
Triple option, the execution of their offense. I have played and coached against them now for 45 years, and there is a common thread that runs through (their program). A lot of their blocking schemes, a lot of their philosophies on offense have been continued through that span.
They are a little more out of the shotgun now, a little less I (formation), but they still have a (heck) of a triple option. They will stay on the field some on Saturday night. We have to be poised and not get flustered on defense. If our kids come out there and think they are going to smoke them, they are going to be in for a rude awakening. I think they will probably move the ball at times.
