Jeffery, Gilmore earn AP All-American honors

USC sophomore wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been named to the second team of the Associated Press All-America team.

Gamecocks sophomore defensive back Stephon Gilmore was named to the third team.

Clemson junior Da’Quan Bowers was voted to the first team at defensive end.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Auburn will have an All-American anchoring each side of the ball when the Tigers play for the national championship.

Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and defensive tackle Nick Fairley were voted to the team along with Oregon running back LaMichael James, who will face Auburn in the BCS title game in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 10.
