SEC sports information directors pick USC second in East

Georgia and Alabama will meet again in the SEC Championship Game, according to the league's 14 football sports information directors in the Birmingham News Spring SEC Football Preview.

Alabama beat Georgia 32-28 in the SEC title game this past season.

In voting by the East SIDs, Georgia, in a tight race with South Carolina, picked up five first-place votes and one second-place finish for 35 points. The Gamecocks received two first-place votes and four seconds for 32 points.

In voting by the West SIDs, Alabama received six first-place votes for 36 points while runner-up LSU totaled 29 points on five firsts and one second.

In the overall poll, which is voted on by all football information directors, Alabama was the runaway choice, receiving 13 of the 14 first-place votes for 169 points. Georgia had 143 points and Texas A&M had 139 points. South Carolina was fourth with 132 points and LSU was fifth with 126.

A school's football information director could not vote for his school in the polls.
