The shouting and pushing match between assistant coaches Kirk Botkin and Deke Adams on Saturday has been examined and addressed, Steve Spurrier said on Sunday during his weekly teleconference.
As he did on Saturday, he blamed it on a day where nothing was going right, and the defensive coaches took exception at exactly who was to blame.
“They’re OK now,” Spurrier said. “Out of character. Obviously, that need not happen anymore. They’re OK now, and hopefully that will not happen again.”
The Gamecocks are healthy.
Safety Kadetrix Marcus, who traveled but did not dress against Georgia with a bad shoulder, could return for the Vanderbilt game. Center Cody Waldrop (sprained foot), who dressed and went through warm-ups before taking a seat, is “probably doubtful,” Spurrier said.
Backup Clayton Stadnik played well in Waldrop’s absence and would start against the Commodores if Waldrop can’t go. It seems reasonable that with Stadnik playing well, there’s no need to rush Waldrop with a bye week after Vanderbilt.
