... Increase the Gamecocks’ home winning streak to 18 games, extending their school record. The current 17-game home winning streak surpasses the previous mark of 15 set from 1978-80. The 17-game home winning streak is also the longest current home winning streak in the country.
... Be the 41st Gamecock win in the last four years, extending their school record for most wins by a senior class. The current four-year win total of 40 surpasses the mark of 38 set by last year’s senior class. Carolina is one of 11 schools in the country that has registered 40 wins over the past four seasons.
... Give Connor Shaw his 26th career win as a starting quarterback, extending his school record. Shaw has not lost at home in his career and carries a school-record, 25-5 mark as a starting quarterback.
... Extend the Gamecocks’ winning streak against non-conference opponents to 14 games.
... Give the Gamecocks a 10-win season for the third-straight year. They had logged 10 wins just once (1984) in school history prior to the 2011 season.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Palmetto Bowl rivals need victories to shore up BCS hopes. Clemson could cement a second BCS game in three seasons with its first victory over South Carolina since 2008. Though even with a loss the Tigers could end up in the BCS. The Gamecocks would see their chances boosted with a win, although they are also still alive for the SEC East crown.
... Clemson QB Tajh Boyd vs. South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney. A year ago, Clowney got 4 1-2 sacks on Boyd in the Gamecocks 27-17 victory. This summer, Clowney jabbed Boyd was among quarterbacks who were scared of him. Boyd's largely laughed off the comments. Clowney has struggled this season with just two sacks. Boyd's struggled against South Carolina, throwing for 339 yards and taking 14 sacks in three appearances.
... Clemson has won at least 10 games in three straight seasons, the longest streak since the Tigers posted four straight 10-win seasons from 1987-1990.
... The Tigers have scored at least 50 points in three straight games and five times this season, both school records.
... Tajh Boyd’s 102 career touchdowns passes makes him one of 18 players in NCAA history to have 100 or more and the first ACC player to accomplish the feat.
... Sammy Watkins set the school record for career receiving yards last week when he boosted his total to 3,071 yards.
... Kicker Chandler Catanzaro has 395 career points, second in ACC history.
