South Carolina will play East Carolina, UMass, Western Carolina and Clemson in its non-conference football schedule in 2016, Gamecocks athletics director Ray Tanner told The State on Friday.
The annual rivalry game against the Tigers will be on the road, but the other three games will be played in Williams-Brice Stadium.
The revelation of the non-conference schedule means South Carolina now has all 12 opponents for next season set, although dates for the games have not been released. The Gamecocks will play Florida on the road, Georgia at home, Kentucky on the road, Tennessee at home, Missouri at home and Vanderbilt on the road within the division and Texas A&M at home and Mississippi State on the road in cross-divisional games.
East Carolina is going to be a regular on the non-conference schedule for a while. South Carolina is scheduled to play the Pirates in 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021. The 2019 and 2021 games are schedule to be played on ECU’s campus in Greenville, N.C., with the 2016 and 2020 games scheduled for Williams-Brice Stadium.
“There are four games on the schedule, but there could be some adjustments made with those games,” South Carolina athletics director Ray Tanner told The State. “The dates could move.”
