Defensive back Israel Mukuamu of Bossier City, La., committed to Florida State on July 24 but didn’t completely shut down his recruiting.
Mukuamu said he planned to take other official visits, and Monday night he confirmed the other four he plans to arrange along with the one to: South Carolina, FSU, Indiana, Georgia and possibly Louisville. No dates have been set.
Mukuamu said USC remains hot on his trail. He talked with secondary coach and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson a couple of days ago and exchanged text messages Sunday with head coach Will Muschamp.
“They’re pretty much telling they they want me bad, come play for the home state, and telling me how they can develop me and how they develop players that are in the NFL right now,” he said. “They accepted my commitment [to FSU] but they said they are still going to come after me until Signing Day.”
Mukuamu said he hasn’t talked with Florida State yet about his plans to take over the visits. He doesn’t expect that to be a problem, as several other Seminole commitments have the same plan. The question is, is it possible Mukuamu can be turned?
“Anything can happen. Maybe it can,” he said. “I’m not sure. Anything can happen.”
