DE Jadeveon Clowney (6-6 240) of South Pointe surprised no one when he walked away with the Mr. Football Award Friday night. But he did have some surprising news about his recruiting, and that was plans for an official visit to Clemson January 21st.
Up till Friday night, the Tigers weren't thought to be major players for Clowney. Clowney said his friendship with recruiter Chris Rumph led to his decision to set the visit. “Yea, coach Rumph came in the other day and said man I need to get a visit out of you,” Clowney said Friday night. “I said yea, I’m going to give you one coach ‘cause you’re a cool dude. So, I’m going to go ahead and take one to Clemson.”
Clowney has taken an official visit to USC. He is scheduled to visit Florida State January 7th and Alabama January 14th. USC's Steve Spurrier and Alabama's Nick Saban have had their in home visits with Clowney.
Clowney said he does not have a favorite and will go to Signing Day before making his decision.
