Marlboro County linebacker Lateek Townsend (6-3 207) Marlboro County has put his recruiting activity on hold while playing with the Shrine Bowl team this week.

Townsend has taken official visits to South Carolina and Southern Cal. He's planning to visit Clemson and LSU in January and is undecided on the fifth visit.

"I'm really going to have things narrowed down by the end of this month," Townsend said Tuesday.

"I'll focus on my books and be ready to go for next season."

Townsend has at one time or another favored USC or Clemson. Right now he's not claiming a favorite.

"When I sat down and wrote the good and the bad down, they were pretty much even," Townsend said.

He has not had his in-home visits with Steve Spurrier and Dabo Swinney.

Townsend said he could announce at the U.S. Army All-American game, or the decision might not come until Signing Day.
