USC continues to mine the talent rich Rock Hill area. Tuesday afternoon the Gamecocks publicly landed the commitments of DE Gerald Dixon (6-4 260) of South Pointe and his brother DL Gerald Dixon Jr. (6-2 270) of Northwestern.
They are the sons of former USC and NFL linebacker Gerald Dixon Sr. and were long thought to be headed to USC.
"It's close to home and I felt good with the coaching staff," Dixon said. "And it's going to be great playing with my brother. We've played against each other for so long it's about time for us to get back together on the same team."
The other Dixon is also excited about playing alongside his sibling. Plus, he feels he's a good fit with the Gamecock defense. "They run the same defense I ran in high school," he said. "And they led the SEC in sacks."

South Pointe coach Bobby Carroll sees a bright future for his former star. "He's got football in his blood," Carroll said. "Friday nights, when they cut the lights on, he gets after it."
Dixon Jr. is described as "a good run stopper and very strong," according to his coach Jimmy Wallace. Dixon Jr. is six months older than his brother. Both played in the Shrine Bowl last month.
The commitments from the Dixons give the Gamecocks 28 in this recruiting class.
