WR Mark Irick (6-4 187) of Calhoun County is carrying on the tradition of football players from his school to garner a lot of attention. Irick already has a verbal offer from Kentucky and is hearing from Clemson, USC, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, FSU, Miami, LSU, Auburn, NC State, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Colorado among others, says his coach, Walt Wilson.
"He has developed each year he has played for me and I expect to see the complete package this year," said Wilson.
Wilson says that Clemson, NC State, and Georgia Tech are close to offering. "He wants to be an engineer so those schools are where his focus is right now," he said.
Irick had planned to attend Georgia Tech's junior day but was injured the night before in a basketball game. He was also invited to Georgia's junior day that fell on the same day. "He missed USC's junior day but Shane Beamer told us there will be another," said Wilson. "He (Irick) will go to that one."
This summer, Wilson plans to take Irick and some of his teammates to several one-day camps. Irick does not have a favorite.
