DB Da'Quan Davis (5-11 170) of Baltimore has taken several visits to USC and says an offer from the Gamecocks "would be a blessing". He attended a 7 on 7 camp in Columbia last summer and returned for the USC-Alabama game. He also attended several basketball games at USC.
"I really love it down there," said Davis. "It reminds me of home. My mother is from North Carolina and I have family in South Carolina. They make you feel like you're at home and the coaches take the time to get to know their players."
Davis has a single offer from West Virginia and says his coach has told him more are coming. Rutgers, Virginia, and Penn State could offer soon and Notre Dame, USC, Temple, and Vandy are showing interest in Davis.
"West Virginia was the first to offer and you're always going to have a special place in your heart for the first offer," he said. "They're my favorite but I'm going to take my time (in committing)."
Davis says an offer from USC would make them one of his top schools immediately. "They are in the SEC so you have a chance to get better a player going up against the best every week," he said. "Especially at a school like South Carolina. They are getting better and beating teams like Alabama. To be the best you can be, you have to go up against the best."
