Dorman offensive lineman Patrick Destefano, one of the state's top prospects for this season, had set Monday as the day to announce his short list. But now he plans to announce his final decision at a news conference at his school at 2 p.m.
Dorman coach Dave Gutshall said he told Destefano there was no reason for a news conference just to announce his finalists. Plus, he said Destefano has reached the point where he's ready to get this over.
"He loved the recruiting process, and then all of a sudden he did not," the coach said.
Speculation has centered on Clemson being the favorite. Gutshall said he doesn't know Destefano's choice, but Clemson would be a logical bet.
"I thnk that too, but I don't know that," he said. "They've done a good job recruiting him but (USC's) Shawn Elliott has done a good job, too."
What Gutshall does know is that Destefano contacted Notre Dame, Stanford, Penn State, Florida and Alabama and told those schools they were out.
"It will be somebody local," he said. "Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee."
Clemson was by the school earlier this week. USC, Georgia and Tennessee have also been in.
Dorman will stage its spring game tonight.
