Wide receiver-tight end Jay Jay McCullough (6-5 235) of Nation Ford made an unofficial visit to USC Friday with his family for a closer look at the program.
The visit also allowed the Gamecocks to take a closer look at him, and he left Columbia with an offer from USC.
“I met with Coach (Ellis) Johnson and Coach (Jay) Graham,” McCullough said. “We had a little tour of the football facilities. I thought it was nice. I liked it.”
McCullough said it’s the third or fourth trip for him to USC. He said the coaches did not specify a position for him, saying he could play receiver, tight end, running back or slot in their offense.
Earlier in the week McCullough was at Clemson’s camp.
“I got to hang out with the coaches and get to know them more,” he said. “I got to know the campus more. It was fun being down there. They’ve offered me as an H-Back.”
McCullough also has offers from Miami, Kentucky, Duke, N.C. State, Connecticut, East Carolina and Miami of Ohio. He wants to visit Miami this summer but is not sure when. And he has no favorite.
“I’m just letting the process go on and see who wants me and offers me,” he said.
McCullough added he has no lean right now between USC and Clemson.
“USC just started recruiting me and I want to see how it is with them,” he said.
He’d like to make his decision before the season.
Last season McCullough had 35 catches for 300 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also rushed for 544 yards and 9 touchdowns.
