Friday was the first day college basketball coaches could get back on the road to check on prospects. The USC staff made a bee line to Edisto to visit with 6-9 Brice Johnson, the state's top prospect for 2012.
Johnson has not yet set official visits with either the Gamecocks or Clemson. He is staying home this weekend. He will visit North Carolina next weekend and Florida two weekends after that. He has visited NC State. He plans to announce in early October.
USC coaches Friday also made visits to 2013 prospects 6-1 Solomon Poole of Jacksonville and 6-4 Al Freeman of Charlotte, and 2014 prospect 6-4 LJ Peake of Gaffney.
