Sindarius Thornwell of Lancaster will be the state’s top senior basketball prospect next season. He’s already sitting on 17 offers with more to come.
The 6-foot-5 Thornwell has had strong interest in USC and Clemson throughout the process. With the possibility of USC ousting Darrin Horn as head coach, Thornwell will have to reassess things from a Gamecock standpoint.
“If there was a change, that’s a hard question,” Thornwell said when asked how that would affect his view of USC. “Of course, I will still like them because they are instate and close to home. I think coach Horn is a good coach. He’s really not had the players he needs, but I think he’s a good coach. I like South Carolina.”
Thornwell also likes Clemson.
“Coach Brownell has been doing a good job,” he said. “He’s a good coach.”
Thornwell went to USC for the Ohio State game, and he was at Clemson for the USC game. He has no other visits planned but will go to Tennessee at some point. He said the Vols are recruiting him the hardest of all the schools right now.
His offer include USC, Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Miami, Boston College, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Providence, Charlotte, Villanova, Tennessee State and Georgia Southern.
