6-5 Austin Ajukwa of Cardinal Newman in Columbia broke out this summer on the national recruiting scene for 2013 and could be on the verge of making a decision.
“I could make a decision next week,” Ajukwa said Wednesday. “It depends on how I’m feeling. Or, it could be in October.”
Clemson recently offered Ajukwa who averaged 24 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season. “They see me as an impact player,” he said. “They’ve been recruiting me since the 9th grade and they like how I’ve developed. They say I have a lot of upside.”
Ajukwa said Clemson likes him as a shooting guard and he sees a fit in the Tigers’ offense. “There’s a lot of motion and isolation situations,” he said. “That plays to my advantage because that’s what I do. It fits me perfectly.”

USC has not yet offered but the Gamecocks have watched Ajukwa throughout the summer. “I’m not sure how much they like me,” he said of the Gamecocks. “They’ve been to all of my AAU games this month.”
East Carolina and UTEP are two other offering schools Ajukwa likes. Some of his other offers are Wofford, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, Presbyterian, Jacksonville, Mercer and UNC Wilmington.
If he does not decide next week, Ajukwa will cut his list next month and have a top three or top five. Clemson, he said, will make that short list.
He plans to sign in November.
