Guard TeMarcus Blanton of Locust Grove, Ga., made an official visit to USC over the weekend and Sunday night committed to the Gamecocks.
Blanton (6-5, 185) is the second commitment for the Gamecocks' 2014 class.
Blanton's coach Reginald Johnson is on board with him joining Frank Martin's program.
"We want him to stay somewhere close and we think South Carolina would be a really good fit," Johnson said. "Playing the SEC, with the competition level he'll have, it would be a real good fit for him."
Blanton averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds a game last season and has a solid offensive game, according to Johnson ,who is a native of Darlington.
"He can shoot and his ability to get to the bucket is great," Johnson said. "One thing he likes to do is go to the cup."
The USC visit was the first for Blanton. Florida State, Auburn, George Mason, Michigan State and Arkansas are some of his other offers.
He was scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend and George Mason on Sept. 20.
Blanton is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports.
