OL Derrick Kelly Jr. (6-5 295) of Havana, FL decommitted from Kentucky last month and since then has seen the interest from other schools skyrocket. And that includes USC.
Gamecock recruiter Kirk Botkin visited Kelly last week. "We talked about what I should expect at South Carolina and what my expectations should be," Kelly said. "I know a lot about coach Spurrier and think he's a great coach, a legendary coach. And I think they have a good offensive line, a smash mouth team basically." Kelly has also talked with Gamecock line coach Shawn Elliott.
He made an official visit to Florida over the weekend and plans to visit USC, LSU and Alabama. He was not certain of the dates though he thought the USC visit might be January 17th.
Kelly Jr. also has offers from Kentucky, LSU, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee and South Florida. Alabama has not yet offered.
