Florida Atlantic running back commit Jordan Scarlett of Fort Lauderdale will try to visit USC within the next couple of weeks.
Scarlett also plans to take an official visit to USC in the fall.
"My (high school) coach is trying to arrange for someone to get me up there," Scarlett said. "I'm really excited about visiting there."
Scarlett, a four-star prospect, said the Gamecocks have a good chance getting a future commitment from him.
"It's an SEC school and that raises the bar," he said. "You get to compete against the best."
His friendship with linebacker Skai Moore has also been influential.
"They're telling me they think I could make the same kind of impact (Moore) did when he became the defensive MVP as a freshman," Scarlett said. "They think I could come in and play early and do the same kind of thing."
Ohio State is the only other school Scarlett plans to visit in the future.
