USC is still looking to add to its already talented haul of defensive backs for 2015 and the Gamecocks have their eyes on Carlton Davis of Miami. He will be at USC Saturday, cleats in hand if needed, for the Gamecock Showcase Camp. But before that, he will be at Ohio State Friday. He will be traveling with his head coach.
Davis has six schools left on his list...USC, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Alabama and Notre Dame and he does not have a favorite at this point. USC has recruited him hard for months and he's remained in regular contact with secondary coach Grady Brown.
"I like the program and it's an opportunity for me to come and get some playing time at a great SEC school," said Davis. "It's an opportunity I'm willing to take."Davis said USC is recruiting him as a cornerback and he has a good relationship with Brown. But he feels Miami has been on him the hardest working to keep him at home.
"I don't mind leaving home," he said. "I think it would be a good opportunity to see different things in the world and experience new things." However, Davis did grow up a Hurricane fan.
Davis has visited Florida and Miami this summer. He has set August 12th for his announcement date and will reveal his choice on a local radio show in South Florida.
As he begins the task of making his decision, Davis said he will weigh several factors from what he's experienced on the various campuses he's visited. "A great vibe and a good environment," he said. "Playing time and a good environment."
This visit will be his first to USC.
