Conyers, Ga. wide receiver Torezz Alexander (6-foot-0, 170 pounds) picked up his first big-time offer recently from USC and he followed that up with a visit Saturday. With the offer, the Gamecocks have put themselves in a prime spot with Alexander but he still wants the process to play out a bit.
"It was a good chemistry and a good atmosphere," Alexander said of the visit. "They say they've got a good engineering (program), I want to go for mechanical engineering. They're really good and I just liked it there. During the practice they showed me they work hard out there. The position I would be playing, I like the coach, and I like coach Will (Muschamp)."
Alexander also plays quarterback for Rockdale County but he has good speed and the Gamecocks are recruiting him as a receiver. He was second on his team with 43 pass attempts last season.
"I can make plays. They want me to make plays, get it done and take over. I can make separation," he said. "They want me real bad. To say this, as for a first offer, for me it was a great feeling. I like South Carolina and I might further my education there. I'm not in a rush. God got me. I'm just going to see what else comes in."
Alexander also is receiving interest from Iowa State, East Carolina, UT-Chattanooga, Georgia Southern, Mercer, Georgia State and North Texas. He also has visited Mercer and Georgia Southern and will visit Alabama A&M and Georgia State later in the month.
Alexander said he would like to make a commitment in the summer and he hopes to sign and graduate early if he has enough credits.
