Ran Tut, a 6-foot-9 forward of Australia and Monroe Junior College in New York, wants to sign with his new school Friday. He expects to learn Thursday if South Carolina will be one of his options. Tut made an official visit to Columbia earlier this week, and Thursday he's expecting to hear from Frank Martin on an offer contingent on USC accepting Tut as a student. If he gets the offer, Tut will choose between the Gamecocks and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
"From the basketball side I did pretty good and I think they want me," Tut said. "I loved everything about it. I loved the coaches because they are all experienced. The facilities are top notch and I had great chemistry with the players. It was a great visit it's definitely in my mind."
Tut visited Milwaukee prior to his USC visit and though it's a mid-major program, he feels he can have a big impact there right away.
"I can have an impact in the SEC too but Milwaukee is building a new program, they've got a new coaching staff," he said. "Obviously, South Carolina has better facilities but I knew that going into the visit. That wasn't my main concern. I wanted to see how the academic side would go."
Tut also considered San Francisco, Kansas State and Murray State. Last season he averaged 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
