Bearcats lead list of signees

Six Brookland-Cayce baseball players signed national letters of intent with colleges recently.

Justin Gross, Jacob Oren and Matthew Boulware each signed with USC Lancaster. To’Nell Legette signed with Spartanburg Methodist, OB Johnson is headed to Coastal Carolina and Jeff Estep is going to play at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, in Ohio.

Gross, who played shortstop for the Bearcats, batted .367 and hit eight doubles and three home runs this past season. Oren played catcher and had a .319 batting average with six doubles and two home runs. He finished the season with a .977 fielding percentage.

Legette played in the outfield and recorded nine doubles and four home runs while batting .347. Johnson led the Bearcats offensively with a .426 batting average. Ustep was a solid defender for the Bearcats. He’ll join a Mount Vernon team rich with baseball history.
