Cardinals claim tournament title

Cardinal Newman rolled to the team championship at its own Holiday Classic invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday. The Cardinals posted a winning score of 227 points, 30 points better than runner-up Bishop England.

Eight Cardinals cracked the Top 3, including individual champions Talley Lattimore (125), eighth-grader Joey DeAngelis (140) and James Williams (189). Lattimore and Williams are reigning SCISA champions. Lattimore is a two-time champ with titles at 119 as a sophomore last year and at 103 as a freshman in 2006. Williams, a junior, was the 189 champ last year.

Juniors Richard Hodaly (135) and Rush Tompkins (215) and senior Shaun Dunphy (145) were second-place finishers.
