George ends Keenan boys' state title drought

Phillip George ended a 19-year state track and field title drought at Keenan by winning the Class 2A high jump championship Saturday at Harry Parone Stadium.

George won the event with a leap of 6-8, which was the top height in any classification this year.

The Raiders last produced a state champion in 1989 when Rudy Brown prevailed in the 110-meter hurdles at the 3A finals in 1989. The only other Keenan boys state winner on the books is Don Buford, who was the 4A 330-yard hurdles champ in 1976.
