Brookland-Cayce turned in a solid girls golf showing last season, and expects to do even better in 2008.
“The girls have a great work ethic and had good summers. They all seem to enjoy golf and want to practice to improve their games,” said Bearcats coach Roger Smith. “Our expectations are to win and play well, but we need to replace two four-year starters.”
The top returning players are sophomore Sarah Johnson, sophomore Elizabeth Hill and junior Casey Corbitt. All three started last season, helping B-C post a 12-6 record (3-1 in region matches) and finish seventh at the Class 3A state championships. The three other returnees include senior Kaylin Ouzts, sophomore Kailey Zeigler and freshman Marrett Rawls.
“This is the most athletically gifted and athletically minded group I’ve had so far, but after our top five players we have players that don’t have a lot of match experience,” said Smith.
