Batesburg-Leesville is hoping that a veteran, senior-laden team will be on the road to improvement in 2008 after finishing 3-13 and missing the state playoff cut out of Region 3-2A a year ago.
“All of our starters are returning, and this is the most athletic team we’ve had in years,” said Panthers coach Tim Covington. “Senior leadership is another plus, but we also have to have our hitters step up their games.”
The returning seniors include setter Shauna Bashline, middle hitters Porcha Etheredge and Ashleigh Padgett and outside hitters Breyana Hartley, Lauren Kennedy and Jasmine Whitt. The top junior returnees are outside hitters Victoria Gunter and Taylor Buzhardt. Sophomore libero Adrienne Lindsay is also back.
