Keenan at East ClarendonTime: 7:30 p.m.
Game notes: Keenan makes its debut under new coach Mitchell Morton in the school’s first season opener in Week 0. The game will also mark the first meeting of the Raiders and the host Wolverines … Keenan has not had much luck in season openers. The Raiders have lost six in a row and are 10-28 all-time in campaign debuts … Keenan’s strength is up front with college prospect Matthew Johnson leading the way. Versatile Arthur Goforth and returning quarterback Antonio Perry and veteran receivers Greg Brown and Marvin Poole are the top skill players on offense … Both teams are coming off losing season, but both made the state playoff cut. Keenan closed with a 3-8 record after a first-round Class 2A exit, while East Clarendon finished 4-7 and fell in the first round of the 1A Division I playoffs … The Wolverines are 11-12 in two season under coach Ed Brogdon, who was the starting quarterback on EC’s undefeated, state championship team in 1985. He was a high school teammate of Fairfield Central coach Reggie Kennedy.
