Richland Northeast’s goal in cross country this season is for modest improvement. The Cavaliers, still plagued by lack of numbers, welcome back four starters on the girls team and have two back on the boys side.
“We have a strong core of returning runners on the girls team and lots of new, young runners who have been conditioning all summer,” said coach Ginger Belka. “The boys team has a lot of inexperience and little depth.”
Belka is looking to sophomore Katie Burke, a three-year varsity runner, to assume team leader ship roles. The other returning starters are junior Erin Butler and freshmen Helen Robinson and Maria Zubizarreta.
Junior Aden Mabruk and sophomore Andy Beattie are the veterans on the boys team.
