Game notes: Camden (1-0) is coming off an impressive 26-14 over Hartsville in the Week 0 opener at Zemp Stadium … Junior quarterback Josh Council had a big night for the Bulldogs – running for a team-high 106 yards while hitting 6 of 14 passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns … Sophomore back SaVonn Wingate added 96 yards rushing and one TD on 20 carries. Trevor Johnson, Jonathan Marshall and Alvonta Jenkins caught scoring passes … The defense limited Hartsville to just 185 total yards … The Bulldogs attack, which struggled so mightily last season, got off on the right foot with an eight-play, 94-yard scoring drive on the first possession of the season. Council’s 69-yard scoring pass to Jenkins capped the move and accounted for the bulk of the distance … North Central is coming off a disappointing 4-7 season. The Knights ended the campaign with six straight losses after getting off to a promising 4-1 start ... The NC losing streak increased to seven games last week in a season-opening 44-20 loss to Region 3-1A rival McBee. The Knights simply had no answer for Panthers senior star Justin Bristow who scored six touchdowns. Bristow had five scoring runs and returned a kickoff for six more points. He would have had a seventh tally if not for a penalty that negated a punt-return score. The teams meet again in region play on Oct. 3.
Series history: Camden is 2-0 vs. the Knights since the start of the county rivalry in 2006. The Bulldogs had their best offensive performance of the season in last year’s 48-14 triumph.
