Carter impressive in Falcons debut

Joey Carter made an impressive debut as the starting quarterback for Ben Lippen on Saturday, but the Falcons fell 28-18 to visiting Bishop England in the first-ever meeting of the schools.

Carter, a junior, connected on 19 of 30 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns. The problem was the Falcons could not run the ball against the Bishops. Ben Lippen runners finished with minus-29 yards on 19 attempts. Carter was sacked several times.

Sophomore Taylor Wilson also had an impressive varsity debut, catching eight passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Mitch Deter grabbed six passes for 79 yards.

The Falcons are gearing up for a long trip and a Friday afternoon game at Hilton Head Prep.
